“To My Friends” & “I’m Tired.” | Two Personal Poems

To My Friends

To my friends

How are you?

You look amazing

No?

Come on

Let that chest puff up

You deserve that crown

Do you even understand?

Do you even know?

Do you even see?

How wonderful are you?

Out of 8 billion lives

Out of the many footsteps

Out of the memories of history

There is only one of you that ever existed

No one has your soul

No one has your dreams

No one has your spirit

No one has your victories

No one has toiled as hard

As you

There is

No need

To meet your achievements

And failures

At the same destination

Because no matter how you perceive them

My pride for you

Would rival Ceaser

A snowflake

A diamond

A pearl

Uniquely valuable

I’m glad to have found you

Why are you apologizing

To me?

I’m your friend

You gave me wealth

And I chose to invest that

On you

All of you

Even the parts

That fluctuate

I must admit

I’m like a fork

There are four heads

One is what people see

One is what my friends see

One is what I yearn to show

One is what I’m trying to

Work on…

Ages past

The man you see

Was also the boy

Whose body shakes

When they are seen

For the lunch table I sat

Was quiet

Vile ghosts in the school showers

Places a curse on me

An illusion came

A prisoner I have become

Of my own body

Despite being able

To see my own feet

It’s ok

Don’t be sad

It is because of you

I feel better :)

You are so valuable

That King Midas can’t transform you

You are so smart

That King Solomon bows

You are so beautiful

That I think I saw Cleopatra blush

You are so courageous

That King Leonidas would follow you

Still think you don’t deserve the crown?

Thank you

For helping me to understand

Thank you

For recognizing my footsteps

Thank you

For cheering for my triumphs

Thank you

For the gifts

Thank you

For tolerating my humor

Thank you

For assuming the best in me

And.

I wish the boy I was

Had the chance to meet you

I’m Tired

I’m tired

I mean it

I’m tired

I’m tired of a world

That hides in fogs

Speaks in riddles

While leaving me behind

With a map

That has no keys

Why hide your meaning

Why coat your words in venom

Why are you angry at me

Why won’t you open doors

When did

“We should grab coffee”

Mean no?

I don’t understand

If children are journalists

You are a composer

Trying to create a symphony

Making the words dance around

While choosing not to

Face the audience

That’s not talent

It’s cowardice
